The StoryWhen our client relocated from Georgia, they were drawn to this circa-1967 residence for its setting overlooking the Tacoma Narrows and its potential for a complete transformation. Our approach was holistic—elevating both form and function while creating interiors that feel refined, timeless, and intentional.
We redefined the floor plan with a thoughtfully integrated addition and expansion that improved flow and introduced direct access from the garage. The kitchen was fully renovated and expanded to serve as a central gathering space, while two living areas were re-envisioned through the removal of a two-story chimney, allowing light and openness to take center stage.
A refined main-level guest suite with a new bathroom was added alongside three additional fully renovated bathrooms. New flooring and drywall were installed throughout, bedrooms were refreshed, and architectural details were elevated with a reimagined fireplace, updated staircase, and all new windows, doors, and trim. Completed with new exterior siding and paint, the home now reflects a sophisticated balance of modern luxury and effortless livability.

Exterior Renovations
Our client was excited to update the exterior in a mid-century–inspired muted green color, refreshing the home while honoring its original character. With the existing siding ready for renewal, we re-sided the home and introduced all-new windows, doors, and exterior lighting. The result is a timeless, cohesive exterior that blends seamlessly with the surrounding landscape.
Entryway
We completely reimagined the entryway, opening up the space to create a stronger sense of arrival. New stair treads, a refined railing with decorative Deco-inspired balusters, and a striking three-tier globe chandelier in gilded brass from Visual Comfort establish an elegant focal point. The result is a warm, inviting entry that naturally draws the eye through the living room and toward the breathtaking Tacoma Narrows view and beyond.
Kitchen
We expanded the kitchen footprint to create a wider, more functional C-shape layout, introducing a peninsula designed for both entertaining and everyday cooking—thoughtfully integrating overflow storage on the side of the fridge and back of the peninsula. Taj Mahal quartzite countertops pair effortlessly with timeless cabinetry in Benjamin Moore Moonlight White, while a charming Embra globe sconce by Studio McGee adds a soft, sculptural moment above the sink. Chrome and brass finishes complete the space, bringing balance, warmth, and quiet sophistication.
Living Room
The original layout was defined by a large central chimney that divided the kitchen and living room. By removing it and introducing a sleek gas fireplace along the wall, we were able to open the space and reorient the home toward the sweeping Tacoma Narrows views. The new fireplace provides both warmth and a modern focal point, while the linear tile adds an organic texture that complements the surrounding materials and creates a cohesive, inviting aesthetic.
Powder Room
To accommodate a new walkway from the garage, we removed the existing tub and reconfigured this former full bath into a beautifully appointed guest powder room. Sandberg’s Olof wallpaper in Sage Green brings softness and character, while a Kohler Parallel faucet and coordinating brushed brass accessories add a polished, modern layer. The cabinetry and countertops were intentionally matched to the adjacent kitchen, creating visual continuity and providing additional linen storage for our client.
Primary Suite
We reimagined the primary suite by relocating the bathroom to create a true en suite and replacing an exterior entrance with new windows framing views of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. The bathroom features Z Collection’s Brisa tile—a handmade Italian tile rich in texture—along with a soaking tub overlooking the water and a traditional vanity topped with Taj Mahal quartzite.
Kohler Parallel fixtures add a modern contrast, while Embra vanity globes and the Visual Comfort Talia chandelier in gilded gold bring a refined glow. In the bedroom, we added a walk-in closet with custom storage, finishing the space with a walnut ceiling fan and motorized green drapery for privacy and warmth.
Junior Suite + Laundry Room
We transformed the downstairs basement layout to include a brand-new laundry room and a thoughtfully planned junior suite. The suite features a luxurious shower and an adjacent bedroom with stunning views of the Tacoma Narrows, creating a comfortable, private retreat for guests.
The laundry room was relocated and outfitted with generous storage cabinetry, a utility sink, and a side-by-side washer and dryer. The result is a highly functional lower level designed for effortless, year-round guest living.
Guest Bath
In the basement guest bathroom, we embraced color with this stunning green tile from Z Collection’s Brisa line. Its handmade texture, paired with warm brass fixtures, creates a striking, inviting space that balances our client’s personality, character, and sophistication.
