The StoryOur clients enlisted us to reimagine the expansive first floor of their 1966 mid-century home with a vision that favored light, warmth, and personality over dark, moody interiors. Inspired by the home’s original wood paneling, we developed a design rooted in late mid-century influence, layered with modern aesthetics for a look meant to endure for decades to come.
The remodel spans the living room, dining area, kitchen, guest bath, and primary suite, creating a cohesive flow throughout the main level. Original details—like the slatted pocket doors leading to the cloistered kitchen—were thoughtfully preserved and echoed in a custom slatted wall designed to complement the alder cabinetry. Playful color and pattern shine in the guest bath, striking a balance between funk and refinement.
In the primary suite, the design slows down, framing serene views of Lake Sammamish from the soaking tub—a quiet moment that grounds the home in its setting and brings a sense of calm to this thoughtfully updated mid-century retreat.
